Our Approach to ESG

In support of our commitment to building stronger communities, QuadReal has a teamwide dedication to integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) into the company’s core activities. These include our corporate, global real estate and debt management, due diligence and investing activities. One of the key ways we hold ourselves accountable is by benchmarking our ESG performance through the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB).

This commitment extends beyond our four walls. As a Responsible Company, we are involved members of the communities where we live, work and invest. We work to advance the quality of life to our communities through our actions, including many touchpoints of charitable giving and local engagement.

Doing Our Part

Doing our part means striving for excellence in performance and transparency. Our goal is to continue scoring in the top quartile of GRESB and prioritizing excellence in sustainability, health and wellness—including our updated strategic pathway to net zero. As part of our commitment to transparency, we publicly share benchmarked energy, water and carbon emissions data for our buildings across Canada and we showcase the types of analysis we find useful to drive continuous improvement.

  • “Through collaboration, we are focused on improving the ESG data and benchmarking landscape, ensuring that thoughtful approaches are in place not only for QuadReal to maintain the standards expected of institutional ownership but for the benefit of the broader market and our industry peers.”

Collaboration

We believe we can accelerate change by sharing best practices with leading organizations including BOMA Canada, GRESB, REALPAC, the Canadian and United States Green Building Councils, Fitwel, the Center for Active Design and the Embedding Project. Together, we can create lasting positive change in the communities where we develop and manage properties while engaging with our tenants, residents and their guests.

We See Community

Part of Being a Responsible Company is understanding the many links we share with our communities, including the links between individual wellbeing, community wellbeing and that of our planet. Through QuadReal’s sustainability engagement program, we share our commitment to sustainability, health and wellness with our tenants, residents and customers.
