City of Vancouver shines spotlight on QuadReal’s sustainable building upgrades

On April 24, 2018, Remco Daal, QuadReal’s President, Canadian Real Estate, participated in a media event at Vancouver City Hall where Mayor Robertson announced the success of implementing an energy efficient solution at the 81-year old municipal building. QuadReal was invited to attend because a similar system has been implemented at Park Place at 666 Burrard Street in Vancouver.

Two heat recovery chillers were recently installed at Park Place, along with a series of mechanical upgrades, to reduce the building’s carbon impact by almost 70% over 2007 numbers. QuadReal believes that there is a good business case to support the implementation of heat pumps and similar solutions. They can save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure existing buildings are comfortable and sustainable for tenants, residents and guests.
