Being a real estate leader requires foresight and courage to make decisions that will make a sustainable future more likely for the stakeholders we represent as well as for the communities and environment where we build and manage buildings.

SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

QuadReal aims to be a global sustainability leader. By delivering on our sustainability policy, we will help drive long-term financial value for the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) and its clients: representing more than half a million of B.C.’s pensioners. We are committed to continually exceeding the expectations of our tenants, residents, employees and the communities in which we operate through efficiency, engagement, health and innovation. Read our Sustainability Policy.

We take a systemic approach to understanding our social, environmental and economic impacts, identifying and prioritizing our biggest levers for positive change. We are equipped with early market knowledge to anticipate and manage risks that can disrupt our business in both the short and long term. This information enables us to capitalize on new opportunities that will benefit our stakeholders.

SUSTAINABILITY GOVERNANCE

Responsibilities for sustainability are embedded throughout the organization. Sustainability metrics are included in the annual objectives of our senior executives. QuadReal is owned by BCI, which receives a detailed carbon performance report that tracks progress towards our 80% carbon emissions reduction target. We provide the data for the direct and indirect property modules that BCI submits annually as part of its public reporting to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) Initiative.

Chaired by QuadReal’s President of Canadian Real Estate, the Sustainability and Environmental Health and Safety Committee meets quarterly and provides updates to QuadReal’s Management Board. QuadReal’s Senior Vice President of Sustainability & Environmental Health and Safety reports annually to the QuadReal Board of Directors on our progress in adhering to our sustainability strategy. Read QuadReal’s Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety policies. See our Committee Mandate
